Protecting your privacy

Telstra ("we", "us" or "Telstra") are committed to providing you with the highest levels of customer service. This includes protecting your privacy.
Set out below is information that we are required to communicate to our customers. We recommend that you keep this information for future reference.

Your personal information

Personal information held by us may include details you provide on membership registration including your name, date of birth, current and previous addresses, telephone or mobile phone number, email address, bank account or credit card details, occupation, driver's licence number and your membership username and password. You may also provide further details to us in when ordering products.
We may also hold details of:

1. your shopping cart and orders (including their status); and
2. your browsing and viewing of the Site.

If you choose not to provide certain personal information, we may not be able to provide you with the services you require, or the level of service on which we pride ourselves

Occasionally, you may need to provide personal information about other individuals to us (e.g. for the purchase of gifts). If so, we rely on you to ensure that you can provide that personal information to us in accordance with applicable laws.

How we collect personal information

6. from our own records of how you use the BigPond Shopping services; or
7. when legally required to do so

How we use your personal information

Your personal information may be used to:

1. verify your identity;
2. assist you to register with BigPond Shopping;
3. provide the BigPond Shopping services, including processing and maintaining your membership and accepting and completing your orders for products;
4. inform you about the status of your orders and details of your membership;
5. administer and manage BigPond Shopping services, including charging and collecting payments for orders;
6. inform you of ways BigPond Shopping services provided to you could be or have been improved;
7. inform you of new products and services and also at times, the opportunity to up take on special promotions or offers;
8. conduct appropriate checks for credit-worthiness and for fraud;
9. research and develop BigPond Shopping services;
10. gain an understanding of your information and communication needs in order for us to provide you with a better service; and
11. maintain and develop our business systems and infrastructure, including testing and upgrading of the Site and BigPond Shopping systems.

You have the option to opt-out of the communications referred to in 5 and 6 above by clicking on the unsubscribe link contained in communications to change your membership preferences.

Also, your personal information is collected so that we, our related bodies, our suppliers and agents can promote and market our/their services to you (including by way of direct mail, telemarketing, email, SMS and MMS messages). This is to keep you informed of products, services and special offers and may continue after you cease acquiring services from us. When we disclose your personal information

Shoppers Advantage Pty Limited administers and maintains the Site, including the processing of orders, on our behalf. Your personal information will be disclosed to Shoppers Advantage Pty Limited to enable them to provide these services to us.

Our suppliers and their delivery agents or contractors assist us to deliver products which you order to you on our behalf. You personal information will be disclosed to such entities for the purpose of enabling them to provide these services.

To deliver the services you require, we may also disclose your personal information to these or other organisations outside of Telstra for other purposes. Your personal information is disclosed to these organisations only in relation to us providing the Site and BigPond Shopping services to you.

These organisations may carry out our:

1. customer enquiries;
2. mailing operations;
3. credit card payment authorisations;
4. merchant and payment facilities;
5. information technology services;
6. Site installation, maintenance and repair services;
7. marketing, telemarketing and door-knocking services;
8. market research; and
9. Site usage analysis.

However, the accuracy of that information depends to a large extent on the information you provide. That's why we recommend that you:

2. keep us up-to-date with changes to your personal information such as your name or address.

All information submitted to the Site is secured using [Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software] and all payment information is secured through SecurePay.

You must also comply with the Terms of Use in relation to the security of your personal information.

You can access your personal information

You have a right to access your personal information, subject to some exceptions allowed by law. If you would like to do so, please let us know. You may be required to put your request in writing for security reasons.
We reserve the right to charge a fee for searching for and providing access to your information.
